Best to you, Dac! Been a tough year here. Hardly ever even check this board anymore. Sounds like your Great Dane has a nicer house than I do! Nice to see you are still around. If I ever think o f something clever to say or ask I will do so.
Have a great New Year!

Re: UVC Testing - Willing to pay!
I work every day with security screening X-Ray equipment. I would not touch this with a ten foot pole without a very thorough understanding of the effects on people of even a small leak. Be cautious, my friend.

fading away
I don't post enough, but seems like we few hangers-on are fading. Hate to lose what was once vibrant, but to quote Jim Stafford "All good things gotta come to an end..."

Re: Ham License
What surprised me is the number of Hams in the US. I believe it's almost a million. More Hams now than ever before. I gotta think getting rid of the code requirement made it a lot more attractive to a lot of people. Jwax, funny how military service can kind of disrupt your plans! Thanks for that! Tom

Re: Ham License
Thanks Gents! That's the plan. I did get it powered up and could hear static, then kind of set it aside for what was supposed to be two weeks.... and then life got in the way!

Ham License
If you have ever wondered about getting a Ham license, I must say it was easier than I thought. After putting it off for forty or so years I finally decided to do it. Hooked up with the local Amateur Radio Club and took a free class. Studied using an App on my smartphone and passed my Technician and...

Great Information, thank you!!! I dis CB stuff in while young, then some comms stuff while in the Coast Guard years ago, HF RTTY and VHF and HF voice stuff, so I am not completely clueless, but certainly close. I have a good friend who is a ham wh has been egging on for years and when I saw this rig...

New to me Old Ham Transceiver
I just purchased an older (mid 1960's I think) Kenwood TS820S ham Transceiver. Its hybrid, both solid state and tube. I haven't plugged it in yet, but other than visually inspecting all the caps and bringing it up slow with a Variac, any ideas on what else i should do? Oh, and no, I am not a Ham (ye...
