Re: electronic govener for gas engine

If this is a 60Hz power generator, you already have the tach info. Compare that with a local 60 Hz oscillator in a exclusive OR gate. Amplifiy that to drive a solonoid. Send me your email address and I will send you a schematic. [email protected]

Re: triac problems..

Take a look at the February Nuts & Volts, an article by Ray Marston shows how to connect a snubber across the triac.

Re: Class D amplifier

The Texas Instruments class D devices claim low (.01% or better) distortion, but I bet that is with one tone. When there is multiple tones, like music, they are going to mix and produce sum and difference frequencies that are in the audio band and cannot be filtered out. I have not listened to one o...

Class D amplifier

A number of years ago, (I don't like to think how many) I designed a switching amplifier for a Sonar transmitter application. Another engineer told me that it would not work because the intermodulation products would be too high. He was right, the sum or difference frequencies were only 6dB below th...

Re: Video Amplification and/or baluns

I expect a balun over such a wide range would be a problem. The LM833 has 10mHz GBW but the 5 volts/usec slew rate would limit the signal level.

Re: 5V to 3.3V

You can do it with one TO-92 IC: LT1121CZ-3.3 available from Digi-Key for $2.38.<p>Note: Digikey.com has a great search engine when you are looking for something like this.

Re: IR remote control

For a frequency of 3.5gHz or higher the mesh would be quite porous, assuming it is like chicken wire. Window openings would pass much lower frequencies.

Re: IR remote control

The stucco is applied to a metal mesh, which is an RF shield. You would need lots of power to penitrate that.

Re: computer data acquistion problem

I suspect the resistance bridge has an internal ground, so when you connect the output to ground, it shorts part of the bridge.

Sounds like the first stage transistor in the receiver has died and you are just hearing the leak-thru signal.
