Re: Kronos Flyer Series

Glad to hear that you haven't given up on the APM yet.
Still haven't gone airborne with my KF yet. Been too busy with everything else.

Just received my February issue of Servo. Congratulations for making the cover. The KronosFlyer looks good there.

Re: Kronos Flyer Series

I was just balancing a set of 3 blade props. Took me over two hours to get them perfect. I just started thinking to myself, "This is the worst part of this hobby". I agree. Balancing props is the least interesting part of this. Glad to hear that your aircraft survived. Sounds like a prett...

Re: Kronos Flyer Series

Thanks for the update on the KronosFlyer with the APM. It's good to hear that you're getting it worked out. Keep us posted as you get it stabilized. I've got my KF built up through part 3 of the series and am anxiously awaiting part 4. I'm not really sure how much longer I can wait before seeing thi...

Re: Kronos Flyer Series

Thanks for the reply. You listed a couple of downsides to the 9XR that also apply to the 9X. Sounds like the two are pretty comparable with the 9XR having a few upgrades but a higher price (due to the fact that it doesn't include Tx/Rx modules). Unfortunately, I'm just not able to make the Futaba 8F...

Re: Kronos Flyer Series

Thanks for the ArduPilot page. That oughtta be helpful. I'm looking forward to building my quadcopter after I get back home from Christmas. (It's the main thing I keep thinking about at this point.) I know I keep asking you questions that are only semi-related to the Kronos Flyer build, but hey, it ...

Re: Kronos Flyer Series

Well, I was pretty pleased with the fact that I selected the KK2 as my "basic"/backup flight controller, but I'm a little concerned about that 1 out of 10 for out of the box flight. Does the KK2 tune up well?

Re: Kronos Flyer Series

Hey, Mark. Glad to hear that we've got a little more company in the ArduPilot department. I'm also looking forward to playing with the APM. Thanks for sharing that Tuning Guide link. Good luck with the build.

Re: Kronos Flyer Series

Thanks for the links. Looks like you might have gotten the last 915 MHz telemetry kit as it's currently out of stock. So my research on telemetry has yielded the following: it basically offers a two-way data communication between the aircraft and some ground module. The ground module could be as com...

Re: Kronos Flyer Series

As far as the transmitter goes, if you truly are leaning towards robotics, then a 9 channel propably wont do. The 8FG can transmit to two recievers. For a total of 14 channels. The extra channels come in handy when you want to do some addvanced features like camera control. That said the 9X is only...

Re: Kronos Flyer Series

I'm planning on cheaping out on the transmitter. I figured I would rather spend money on a better flight controller than the extra $415 on the Futaba 8FG Super. Is that a waste? I'm already beyond what I budgeted for the project, so I'm not going to be able to upgrade both the transmitter and the fl...

Re: Kronos Flyer Series

I just ordered one of the new Adrupilots with GPS. I also ordered the two-way telemetry and OSD module. Better be good because it cost me almost as much as I spent on the NAZA and GPS. I probably won’t get it working in time for this series of articles, so if there is enough interest, I may do a fo...
