Re: Experimenting with Hot Glue..

I just used Wikimedia as an example of what the board requires for the image tag, ie an address to the image that ends in a standard image extension such as .jpg, .gif, .bmp, .png as these are the ones browsers can render. It doesn't matter where it is hosted, as long as when you view the image by i...

Re: Experimenting with Hot Glue..

Click the link and it's there. Now if you want it to show in the post, use the bbs code at the top of the editor - click the icon with a picture in it. This will bring up the image tag. Place your image url between and you should be good to go. Of course, some work better than others. Let me give it...

Re: Message Board update

Well, going on 3-1/2 days for a call to Admin, Mods, even IT, and not a peep. Are any of them out there?

Re: Message Board update

One thing I missed immediately was the ability to see member rankings via postings. The infamous Chris Smith's record for posts should be surpassed sometime this year, only like 8-10 years after he left the board. Can't figure out how to reorder the members by posts on my phone. Haven't even tried o...

Re: A Simple but Accurate Constant Current Source

I agree with that assessment. Ease of use and what is considered standard practices trumps any old concerns that may have been precedent over 10 years ago. In order to make this board attractive to the newer generation, image and file hosting is just a basic requirement.

Re: A Simple but Accurate Constant Current Source

Under the FAQ. http://forum.nutsvolts.com/app.php/help/faq#f3r3 This goes for any attachment, which you can see further up the FAQ. IIRC, the reason this was never allowed was due to fear of losing space / space constraints for the Board. In this day and age, this shouldn't even be a consideration. ...

What this Message Board needs is an "Art Gallery" that the members can upload Pictures, Diagrams, and Images too.
That way it makes it a lot easier to put images into postings.

Message Board update

I see that the Message Board / Forum has been updated. Has any new functionality been added or improvements been made, or is this just cosmetic? A rundown would be nice. Admins? Mods? IT?

Re: Why is there no way to contact the Administrator?

Evahle, I see you've used PostImage back in May, I presume for the LEDs on your FB page. Currently, the PostImage link is broken. Do you remember if it was a general upload or had you joined / signed up and put it in your own directory? At this point, I'm going to look and see what other options are...

Re: Why is there no way to contact the Administrator?

It's weird that the ability to upload photos was never really touted as an upgrade to the board. When I signed up (in the great Long Ago), you had to have an off-site image host for your images and you would use the tags at the top of the page, along with the font color to the side to make your non-...

Re: client??

Usually refers to Microsoft Client as in Client / Server. However, I would recommend going to Microsoft.com and doing a search for Process Explorer (originally from SysInternals) and downloading the Zip file on that page. It is a standalone (no need for installation) executable that shows EVERYTHING...

Len,

One of my Call Rejection messages goes like this:
"We're sorry. This phone.number does not accept calls from scams, telemarketers, or unknown numbers."

I doubt it works, but it sure does.make me feel good.

Re: Why is there no way to contact the Administrator?

Probably the best one to get in touch with is Vern Graner. Just go up to the top left and click the Members button. Then where it says "Member's name starts with", click in the box and select V. Vern is the 12th one down. Click on his profile and you can access the private messaging system within th...

Re: Typical 0.1 μF bypass capacitor value...

As you know all to well, they are being used for frequency dependent situations. The small (0.01 + -) next to the IC power pin is used to bypass high frequencies to ground, preventing them from entering the IC and causing all sorts of problems. The larger larger ones (~10 and up) are used to reduce ...

Re: Mini-Rant

Ah yes, planned obsolescence. That's why I still look for things that are built more old-school - when product quality and longevity were the expected norm. A few years ago my washing machine finally died (motor went - was worth more than the washer 2x's over) and was looking around. All the name br...
