Re: Message Board update

I meant those with an electronic interest will have a tech apptitude and will figure it out. And real beginners can and will get help. The non-tech folks (not even interested) won't be here in the first place. They are not un-invited, they just will not come. And I do not believe making it retart ea...

Re: Message Board update

The real problem here, that I see, is that most people don't know how to do any of those things. ((regarding posting images))True, but they won't be posiing schematics, block diagrams, or construction instructions here either (for the most part). Putting the image at an image hosting server ...

Re: Message Board update

dacflyer uses PhotoBucket, try there to see if it is easier than wikimedia. Yes, that image is in a sub-directory at my site. It is for a hardware and software project I helped with. Since that is leased space (by me), I used an existing image instead of uploading something clever to show here. Does...

Re: i need a long QR type code identified

Was the code on the envelope before it was used, or added after address and method of sending (priority, 1st class, parcel post, etc.) is determined?

Re: i need a long QR type code identified

./download/file.php?avatar=241.jpg" is not a URL and your PC is not a server. See post in "Message Board Update"

Re: Message Board update

http://www.yarker-dsyc.info/BlueFlower/PanelNumbers.png It is not broke! Use image tags to link to image on another server (like my test above). (shorter version, 1st post got lost) I believe N&V / Servo lease forum server space. Image storage costs money even if hard drive is huge. Additional admi...

Re: wireless door button - several failed.

The chime is electronic, it works fine.
If pushing the button does not make ding-dong, how do you know if it is the button or the chime which does not work? Does the chime have a battery?

Re: wireless door button - several failed.

Chime battery? It's receiver runs 100% of the time, plus surge when striking gong. The button only draws current when button pressed.

Re: USB keyboard

USB is no where near that simple. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_(Communications) There must be a host (a PC or micro-controller) and a device (keyboard, mouse, thumb drive, etc, etc). At plug-in, or power on, there is data exchange to setup power required, USB version, addresses(to communicate w...

Re: Beheaded fatty nail as soldering tip...

The thermal conductivity of steel is 7 to 10 times lower than copper. If you don't mind the traces coming off the board, etc, from the longer times waiting for solder to melt; then should be fine.

Re: Experimenting with Hot Glue..

The silicone contains acid (did you notice vinegar like smell?) and attacked the solder the fastest. My guess would be the tin in the solder before the lead. (maybe some chemistry person can say). Yes monitor for slower corrosion.

Which little bit were you missing in making images work?

Re: Why is there no way to contact the Administrator?

I've done it before. The readers here will see the images here just like they are stored here, but they are actually stored on your own server or the free host's server. No change in "fun" for your readers. Facebook may (repeat may) not be a good storage choise. Don't you have to join Facebook to lo...
